Charlotte E. Hemker-Smith
has specialized for the past 25 years in the representation of carriers and insureds in coverage and bad faith cases and in the representation of joint powers authorities. Charlotte is a former partner at Bolling, Walter & Gawthrop, and maintained her own practice for the past several years before becoming Of Counsel to JS&L.

Charlotte received a B.S. at Flora Stone Mather College for Women, Western Reserve University and her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law. Charlotte has taught many seminars on insurance coverage and bad faith law, and is a co-author of California Insurance Bad Faith Claims, published by Lorman Education Services.

Charlotte is admitted to practice in California, Maine and before all levels of federal courts.
